This is coming straight from my heart. We have seen our nation progressing at a pace that had nothing to ride home about. However, in the last 10 years we have seen a paradigm shift on how – if things starts to fall in place – India as a nation can create history. I am humbled with the fact that i am part of a growth story myself. I am seeing the change. I am the change.
I am delighted to advertise the rapid strides that we as a nation are taking in areas of public health, sanitation, roads and education. I am part of the knowledge economy globally known to produce some of the best intellects. I am desperate to share the pictures of world class super highways connecting cities. I am keen to say that now you can actually drive between cities at breakneck speeds, just like you do in developed nations. I am eager to show you the rainwater conservation projects that are actually working in Tamil Nadu.
I am raring to tell you that Indian railways have really – really improved in customer service. I am pleasantly surprised to tell you that the railway complaint cell works. The toilets are clean and you can book the ticket using your cell phone or Internet.I want you to know that this was same railways with the world’s largest network being loathed for bad service and being in a financial mess. I want you to record the historical milestone that Indian Railways has carved out that, today it is one of most respected management case studies – of being the largest and profitable government run Railway system the world.
I am happy to say that there is more money than ever with the Indian middle class. I want you to come with me and watch for yourself – The Great Indian Retail Revolution slated to be the world’s biggest and best ever. I want to email you the list of global CEOs wanting to invest in India not as matter of design, but as a serious strategic endeavor. I want to show you the news clippings of analysts who have climbed on rooftops yelling ” Don’t forget the India story…” I want to show you a government school for girl children receiving 100% attendance. I want you to take a picture of the world’s largest school meal distribution program (Mid-day meal program) – working.I want you to see the glow in the child’s eyes – the glow of going to school and eating two square meals a day – everyday.
I am pleased to say that we are actually thinking of reduction of tax rates – because we are growing well. I want you to step back and think of ” what has it taken for the world’s largest and most complex democracy to stay in one piece and prosper – to a stage where we are in complete control of revenue, tax and inflation!” . I want you to note that we are on the path of solving a problem which is big only in its sheer magnitude and not in attitude.
I want you to note that India has one of the world’s deepest mobile network penetration coupled with envious discipline of administration. I want you to check out the rural computing initiatives which has interlinked villages to towns enabling better trade of raw materials. I want you to note that we have recorded food surplus – again and that a mechanism is in place for sharing trade earnings with farmers. I want to tell you that all these are now happening online. I want you to tell others that the monumental initiative of making safe and portable drinking water is a massive hit.
I want to you feel happy that the rural health care centers are now functioning 24 hours. I want you to feel happy the emphasis for girl child education has been encouraged extensively from the grass root level. I want to tell you that she pays no tax for income upto Rs1.8 lakhs per annum!
I want you to tell your friends that tax payer compliance has increased exponentially and more and more people are paying their taxes promptly. I am happy to tell you that the Income Tax Department is by far the most dreaded department by many! For they know everything about you and your income.
I am very happy to state that India has reached a stage where the government is able to write-off Rs 60,000 crores worth of loans for farmers. Something unthinkable just a few years ago! I am happy to note the overflowing foreign exchange surplus which is able to topple the US dollar. I am placing this on record that never before in the history of world politics has US been eager to get an nuclear agreement in place. I want you step back and realise that India for the first time has made US wait…for an answer…and US is worried that the answer can be NO!
I want you to listen to this year’s budget speech and memorise some of the aspects highlighting the growth story.
I want you to believe in it.
Do open the attached document and spend that 1hour in listeing to the budget
